APK Professor Nominated for Prestigious Faculty Award

Dr. David Vaillancourt, Professor in the Department of Applied Physiology and Kinesiology at the University of Florida, has been nominated by the College of Health and Human Performance for a most prestigious promotion to the rank of Distinguished Professor. The title of Distinguished Professor acknowledges an exceptional record of achievement in the areas of teaching, research and publication, and professional and public service that is recognized both nationally and internationally. Dr. Vaillancourt is the principal investigator of several NIH grants to investigate rehabilitative, surgical and pharmacological interventions for neurological disorders, such as Parkinson’s Disease.


APK Faculty Member Receives Research Excellence Award

Dr. Stephen Coombes, Assistant Professor in the Department of Applied Physiology and Kinesiology, receives the “Excellence Award for Assistant Professors”. The award is given to junior faculty in recognition of excellence in research. Dr. Coombes investigates how neural mechanisms for motor, pain and emotional processes influence each other.
