Athletic Training

About the Program

This two-year Master’s of Science program is designed for students who are BOC certified athletic trainers or certify-eligible. The program provides for intensive study in the sports medicine area emphasizing prevention, assessment, treatment, rehabilitation, therapeutic modalities, and administration. Clinical experience in the field is expected throughout the student’s tenure in the program. An extensive clinical outreach program provides assistantship opportunities for students who are certified athletic trainers (AT). Upon graduation, the student should be eligible to apply for athletic training positions at the high school, collegiate, professional, and private agent levels.

Admission Requirements

  • GRE score minimum of 146 Verbal and 146 Quantitative.
  • GPA of 3.0 (on a 4.0 scale) or better for upper division course work.
  • Three letters of recommendation, at least one from a supervising certified athletic trainer (AT). Experience in athletic training: BOC certification is preferred; however, certified-eligible applicants will be considered for admission into the program.

Degree Requirements

  • Minimum of 30 semester credit-hours needed for graduation
  • A minimum of 15 hours of coursework must be taken in Applied Physiology and Kinesiology at or above the 5000-level.
